We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day and dressing up. Our class theme was “Activists,” and the children came in a fantastic range of creative costumes. We had eco-warriors, peacekeepers, several endangered animals including pandas, a sea turtle, a tiger and a polar bear and two pupils even dressed up as David Attenborough.
We shared the book What We’ll Build by Oliver Jeffers, which sparked a thoughtful discussion about the things we are grateful for in our lives, such as our families, friends, pets, school, hobbies and holidays. We also talked about how some children around the world are unable to attend school because of war, poverty, natural disasters or illness. This helped the us to reflect on how important education is and how missing out on it can affect a child’s future.
