Art & Design
Art and Design is an engaging and enriching part of our creative curriculum at Tankersley St. Peter’s Primary School. It contributes to children’s personal development in confidence, creativity, independence, perseverance and self-reflection. The principal intent is to develop children’s knowledge of art, artists and the history of art, as well as developing skills and understanding.
The skills that children will develop are mapped across each year group throughout school to ensure clear progression. Children are given opportunities to practice and develop these skills in the key processes of art e.g. drawing, painting, printing, collage, textiles, 3D sculpture and digital media.
Local artists are invited into school to work with the children and teachers take classes to visit local art galleries where appropriate. We promote the development of Art and Design in our after school clubs.
