The Hungry Caterpillars returned to Nursery happily at the beginning of the new year, 2026, and we also welcomed several new starters. The children learnt about how people celebrate the new year by enjoying firework displays and making new year resolutions. We thought about promises we could make this year to improve ourselves. For example, Mrs Terrell said, “I am going to stop scrolling on my phone as much and use my time to read more books!” Lily said, “I want to help my mummy feed my doggy. I sometimes help her, but I will help her more!” Molly said, “I am going to get better at sharing my toys with Oliver, Nancy and Will!” Jack said, “I want to get better at listening to mummy and baking!” Lincoln said, “I want to get better at drawing. Ava helps me to draw!” Jacob said, ”I am going to get better at riding my bike on two wheels and pedals, and get faster!”
The children also brought in their favourite toy for ‘show and tell.’ Some toys were new Christmas presents and some were older toys. They spoke confidently about their toys and enjoyed sharing them with their friends afterwards.
It has been a super start to 2026 in Nursery. Happy new year everyone!
