We had a fantastic day at the Barnsley Civic today performing alongside pupils from another 2 primary schools and musicians from the Grimethorpe Colliery Band as part of the Grimethorpe Adventure project. Mr Francis and Helen Varley, the musical director from the band have been working with the children for months preparing them for the performance and all the hard work has definitely paid off. The performance was absolutely fantastic and the audience were blown away with how wonderful the music sounded. It was a really interesting project to be involved in because the pupils have not only improved their brass playing skills tremendously but also learnt a great deal about the history of mining and the life of miners which is such an important part of our local heritage.
