Year 5&6 Football Tournament Winners! 02-12-16

This year our boys were going in to the competition with added pressure after winning the league last year, however we knew that this wasn’t going to be easy. With all the other schools looking great in the warm ups we knew that we were going to have to dig deep and give it our all if we were to bring back the trophy.

We started the tournament of perfectly with three wins from three in our opening group stage matches which secured us a place in the semi-finals. The semi-final was challenging but we did extremely well to come away with a 2-0 win and knew that we were through to face St. Helens in the final of this year’s tournament.

In previous years we had a habit of losing in the final on penalties so we knew we had to try our best to get some goals in this game, and fortunately we did! The final finished 3-0 to Tankersley and we had comfortably won our trophy and winners medals, and this was all thanks to an outstanding performance from every single one of our players in all of our positions!

Tankersley St. Peters Hockey Tournament

On Friday 4rd November our year 3 and 4 hockey team travelled Springwood Primary School to take part in the annual Hockey tournament. After making it through the group stages we managed to secure our place in the semi-final about which the team were extremely excited . After a great amount of effort and determination, we managed to win the semi-final and were sent through to the final for the first time ever! We were now guaranteed a medal, we just didn’t know which colour it was going to be. In the end, the final went through to extra time and then penalties which we unfortunately lost, meaning we were taking home silver. The team played superbly throughout the entire competition and the effort and work rate couldn’t be faulted.

Next year we are hoping to go one step further and win the competition

A massive well done to Tankersley’s year 3 and 4 Hockey Team!

Tankersley St. Peters Netball Team

On Friday 7th October our school netball team competed in an interschool Netball competition with other schools in the local area. This year we started the competition with 2 wins out of three in the group stage which secured us a place in the semi-final against local school West Meadows. Our team worked extremely hard and put in 100% and managed to scrape a narrow win which meant that for the first time in years we had reached a Netball final! We knew the final would be challenging especially against Hoyland Common, but we still went out and gave it our all. In the end Hoyland Common were just too good and came out with the win, however this meant that our team came runners up in the entire competition which we think is an amazing achievement! Congratulations to all involved!

The Year 5&6 Boys Football Team 2015/16

Screen Shot 2016-07-07 at 09.48.57This year the year 5&6 boys football team have taken part in the very first Kirk Balk Partnership Football League, and the season has gone better than anyone could have ever imagined! For some of the boys, this was the first time they had ever played together as a team, but from game one we never looked like dropping a single point (and we didn’t!).

After playing seven games altogether against other schools in the local area, we managed to win all seven, and scored an unbelievable 67 goals and only conceded 11. This was down to the pure talent of all of our players, the work rate and the way all of the boys supported each other as a team.

From the very first training session, all of the players showed great will and determination, and we could see straight away that all of our players have the ability to go above and beyond.

To celebrate the achievement of all of the players we put together a presentation at the school and invited all the children and the parents. During the event all of the players were handed there winners medals, individual certificates and the league trophy was presented.

Congratulations to goalkeeper Daniel Miles who won Nathans managers player award, and congratulations to Sam Rolling who won Jakes managers player award as well as the players player.

We would also like to congratulate the whole team as their efforts this season have been unbelievable and they have done so much better than anyone could have ever asked for. So a big thank you and well done to:
