The children learnt that Tankersley St Peters CE Primary school is in the village of Tankersley. They firstly enjoyed comparing features of their locality, by looking at Google Earth and considering the Birds Eye View. They then looked at Google Earth to plan out their village trail route. Once on the trail, the children noticed lots of different styles of housing, made of various materials such as brick and stone. The children also spotted lots of road signs and enjoyed a very peaceful and spiritual walk through Tankersley woods, where they listened to birdsong, smelt wild garlic, observed ivy, nettles, dandelions, buttercup flowers, blue bells and large tree roots appearing from the ground. The children were even looking out for the Gruffalo! The village trail finale was a traffic survey and the most popular vehicles passing school were cars. The least popular vehicle was the motorbike. Thank you to everybody who supported us on our village trail. Well done Shining Stars, you were such a credit to your school!
THE SHINING STARS ENJOYED THEIR VILLAGE TRAIL!
