The Snozzcumbers have been learning about Stonehenge as part of their Stone Age topic and really enjoyed finding out more about this famous prehistoric monument. We discussed why Stonehenge was built and what it was used for. Some people believe it was a burial site because archeologists found pottery jars with ashes nearby. Others think it may have been a healing place as skeletons with broken bones were also found there. It is also possible that it was an ancient calendar which helped to track the seasons because the stones line up with the sunrise at the summer and winter solstice.

The children used Stonehenge as an inspiration to create silhouette pieces of artwork. They worked with pastels and cut out the stone shapes from black card.

Fantastic work Snozzcumbers!
