On Thursday 21st March the Smartest Giants in Tankersley visited Conisbrough Castle. The children had a fantastic time learning about life in medieval times and exploring the castle grounds. We climbed 100 stairs to the very top of the keep and enjoyed a wonderful view of the area. In the inner bailey we saw the remains of what once was the kitchen, the prison and the great hall. In the keep we saw the chapel, many huge fireplaces and even a mediaeval toilet called the garderobe. We found out that the Castle was built 850 years ago by Lord Hamelin and Lady Isabelle.
