The Hungry Caterpillars have been learning about why we celebrate Bonfire Night this week. We looked at information books and our Smartboard to find out about Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot. Sonny remembered that “ Guy Fawkes tried to kill the king in London. The soldiers stopped Guy Fawkes. The king was mad and chopped Guy Fawkes’ head off. So, we see the fireworks and the bonfire and we eat jacket potatoes!”
We sang a new song called ‘ Bonfire Night is Great’ in a circle around a pretend bonfire , made out of sticks and tissue paper fire. The children also enjoyed printing fireworks and creating glittery firework pictures.
It has been a very sparkly start to this half term!
