‘ONE THING’ CHARLIE AND LOLA MATHS EVERYWHERE OPEN MORNING

Children in Nursery and Reception have listened to a Charlie and Lola story, ‘One Thing.’ This book contains huge amounts of mathematical concepts and vocabulary, whilst relating to everyday fascinations. All of the children were involved in identifying their own maths interests within the book. They created fantastic large scale posters! Please take a look below. The children’s learning culminated in our Open Morning. Nursery, Reception and the Outdoor areas were full of exciting activities. These included:

  • Repeating pattern fruit kebabs
  • Biscuit decorating/counting
  • Measuring our heights and comparing to Charlie and Lola’s heights
  • Estimating and counting the number of sweets in a jar
  • Outdoor goal scoring / tally chart recording
  • Charlie and Lola object / tally chart hunts
  • Counting the number of pegs to match the numerals
  • B-bot programming along a route plan
  • and much much more………………….

We are so proud of the wonderful learning that took place.

Thank you to our Year 6 Maths Ambassadors who supported us greatly in our explorations of mathematics.

Thank you also for the continued support from our families and community. A fun time was had by all!

A massive thank you to all of the Early Years staff and students who have been planning and resource collecting for this event.

Farm to Fork, at Tesco Hoyland 28.6.17

We have had another fantastic trip to Tesco, for the Farm to fork trip. We had the opportunity to explore the store and got to try lots of foods at we discovered how food gets from the farm to our plates.

Thank you to Tesco who funded the trip and also donated some food items for our Global showcase event.

30 hours of free nursery childcare

Dear Parents and Carers

As you may have heard in the National News the Government have announced via The Childcare Bill Policy statement that families’ accross the country could be eligible for 30 hours of free nursery childcare for working parents of 3 and 4 year olds.

I am pleased to announce that Tankersley St Peter’s Primary School is planning to participate in offering this extended provision to as many of our nursery families as possible, starting September 2017.

Eligibility is determined by HM Government, and qualification criteria can be checked on

 https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/

In brief, the free 30 hour offer will be made to families of Nursery children where each parent will need to earn, on average, the equivalent of 16 hours on the National minimum wage, but no more than £100,000.

If you or any of your family and friends are interested in taking up this offer, please call in to the school office for further details.

Yours sincerely

Mrs J Proctor-Blain

Headteacher
