Here come the pirates! Aaarrghh!

The Smartest Giants in Tankersley have made a fantastic start to the spring term and are really enjoying our brand new topic about Pirates. This week we read fiction and non- fiction books about pirates and learnt how to write questions and statements. We have our very own pirate ship in the classroom and the children had lots of fun dressing up as pirates, making pirate ships in the creative area and completing all the rainbow challenges.

Our nativity performance.

This week we performed our nativity story. We have been working very hard for weeks learning the songs and actions and were very excited about finally performing to an audience. All our hard work paid off and it was brilliant. Well done everybody!

Rainbow challenge.

This half term the Smartest Giants in Tankersley started a rainbow challenge as part of their independent learning time. During the course of the week the children have to collect 5 different coloured lollypop sticks after completing a reading, writing, math, science and creative activity linked to their topic and learning in lessons . It’s great fun and the children really love it!

The Smartest Giants in Tankersley go back in time!

The Smartest Giants in Tankersley had a wonderful visit to the Old Classroom.  They learned what it was like to go to school in Victorian time.  They were excellent scholars and had first hand experience of a variety of activities such as cleaning, washing, writing with an ink pen, playing with Victorian toys and experienced feelings through the eyes of a Victorian child.  The Smartests Giants’ behaviour was fantastic and they were a credit to the school.  Well done Everyone!

Our autumn walk

This week the Smartest Giants in Tankersley went for an autumn walk in the local woods and observed the changes of seasons. The children collected  leaves of different shapes and colours and used them to create  some fantastic artwork.
